Epic Games announced the launch of Unreal Engine 4.27 bringing powerful new features for creators.
Unreal Engine 4.27 is now available for download! with improvements and new tools aimed at improving workflow in many sectors, from directors and broadcasters, visualization specialists in architecture, automotive, and product design, to game developers, etc.

Virtual Camera system Next-level

In this new version, we find a number of improvements to the efficiency, quality, and ease of use of the virtual camera toolset for VFX, a revolutionary virtual production technique.
Many of these improvements apply to other industries as well, especially broadcasting and live events.

The Virtual Camera system introduced in Unreal Engine 4.26 has been significantly enhanced, with support for many more features including Multi-User Editing, a redesigned user experience, and extensible core architecture.
There’s also a new iOS app, Live Link Vcam, dedicated to virtual camera functionality. The system enables you to drive a Cine Camera inside Unreal Engine using a device such as an iPad.

The VFX workflows are improved and integrated into the virtual camera.

This latest release features a number of improvements to the efficiency, quality, and ease of use of the Unreal Engine’s In-Camera Visual Effects Toolset (ICVFX).

Epic Games recently partnered with the Bullitt filmmaking collective to further test these virtual tools, presenting a number of efficiency improvements, improving the ease of use and quality of Unreal Engine’s in-camera visual effects toolset (ICVFX).

In the new version of Unreal Engine 4.27, we have the new Config Editor which allows users to easily design their own 3D nDisplay configurations for LED volumes or other multi-display rendering applications. Now all nDisplay related functions for faster and easier access are available in a single nDisplay Root Actor.
We also have multi-GPU support for nDisplay to scale more efficiently while also allowing users to maximize resolution on shots.

Render faster in realtime

The latest version of the engine also offers improvements to the Lightmass GPU, the time it takes to generate lighting data for scenes that require global lighting, soft shadows, and other complex lighting effects has been significantly reduced.

The system is powered by the latest ray tracing capabilities with DirectX 12 (DX12) and Microsoft’s DXR framework, using the GPU instead of the CPU to progressively render precalculated lightmaps.

Physically accurate progressive rendering mode in Unreal Engine

In the new version, we find the latest version of Path Tracer, a DXR acceleration, physically accurate progressive rendering mode in Unreal Engine that can be enabled without requiring any additional configuration, quickly obtaining beautiful real-time renders, whether it be products marketing for architecture, automotive, product design.
