GTA Car Challenge 2026 – A New 3D Car Challenge for GTA Fans and 3D Artists
If you’re into 3D modeling, car design, rendering or animation, there’s a new challenge worth checking out.
3DModels.org has launched the GTA Car Challenge 2026, the 12th edition of its annual Car Render Challenge — and this time the theme is all about the world of GTA.
We’re also happy to share that 3DArt will once again be part of the judging panel, helping evaluate and select some of the best entries.
What’s the challenge about?
The idea is pretty straightforward: create your own 3D car and build a scene inspired by the GTA universe around it.
That leaves plenty of room for interpretation. You can focus on the car itself, build a detailed environment, create a cinematic scene, or go all-in on the atmosphere and storytelling.
Think city streets, garages, night scenes, racing, police chases, underground car culture — or something completely different.
The important part is putting your own spin on the theme.
Participants will also get some specific elements to work with, including a 3D alligator model and custom license plates, which can be incorporated into the final scene.
There’s also an Animation category
One of the biggest additions this year is a new Animation Category.
So if you’re more interested in animation, motion design or telling a story through movement rather than a single still image, there’s now a dedicated category for that as well.
It’s a nice opportunity to take the project beyond a traditional car render and experiment with short-form 3D storytelling.
3DArt will be part of the jury
We’re particularly happy to continue our collaboration with 3DModels.org.
3DArt will once again join the judging panel, helping evaluate the submitted projects and select the strongest entries.
We’ll be looking beyond just technical quality. Modeling, composition, lighting, environment, creativity and — perhaps most importantly — the overall idea and how effectively the final image or animation tells a story will all matter.
There are plenty of technically impressive renders out there. What makes a project stand out is often the idea behind it.
Dates & rules
The challenge is free to enter and open to 3D artists.
Submission deadline: December 1, 2026
Winners announced: December 15, 2026
One important rule: generative AI is not allowed for creating the submission.
Participants are also required to provide Work in Progress material showing how the project was created.
You can find the full rules, submission details and prizes on the official challenge page:

Who’s joining?
If you’re working on something for the challenge, feel free to share your ideas, WIPs or final renders with the community.
Whether you’re a professional 3D artist, a student, a hobbyist, or just someone who enjoys building cars in Blender, 3ds Max, Maya, Cinema 4D or another 3D package, this looks like a fun excuse to start a new project.
We’ll be looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with — and we’ll be there on the other side of the judging process.
Good luck, and happy rendering!
