Lasciamoci ispirare dal genio di Angelo Licata, godiamoci questo spettacolare corto di 7 minuti (oltre 10 con i titoli di coda) un’opera a metà strada fra il cortometraggio e il trailer, che ha richiesto una mole di lavoro spaventosa per via della quantità e della qualità degli effetti visivi, pieno zeppo di animazioni 3D e un VFX incredibile.
Angelo Licata è riuscito a creare un prodotto incredibile tutto made in Italy dimostrando che attraverso la voglia, la tenacia e il potere della Forza tutto è possibile. Opera sostenuta anche grazie all’aiuto economico dei produttori associati di Dark Resurrection.
Dark Resurrection – i custodi della Forza
Il primo film, uscito nel 2007, aveva lasciato a bocca aperta tutto il mondo e si era persino meritato il plauso della Lucasfilm che aveva autorizzato la proiezione no-profit descrivendo il film come “Truly amazing”.
Forti del successo del prequel Dark Resurrection Vol.0 che ha realizzato milioni di visualizzazioni su YouTube e grazie alle donazioni dei fan da tutto il mondo, è stato possibile realizzare un capitolo conclusivo che, dato l’ambizioso arco narrativo, è stato declinato in parte in un romanzo illustrato e in parte in un prodotto video a metà strada fra il cortometraggio e il trailer.
La trama: Sono trascorsi dieci anni dalla vittoria dell’Impero. Gli ultimi Guardiani della Forza sopravvissuti, Zui Mar, Dan Lee, Nemer e la veggente Organa, sono braccati dall’esercito imperiale e dall’allievo di Sorran, il terrificante Lord Drown.
Durante una rocambolesca fuga dal pianeta minerario in cui i fuggiaschi sono rifugiati, un’eco nella Forza riporta la speranza nei loro cuori: forse Hope, l’unica in grado di sconfiggere Sorran e il suo apprendista, è ancora viva. Forti di questa convinzione, e affiancati da una nuova alleata, gli esuli iniziano un pericoloso viaggio alla ricerca della ragazza nelle cui mani è riposto il destino dell’intera galassia.
Angelo Giampietro, produttore Riviera Film: “La volontà di produrre questo piccolo film nasce dal desiderio di portare a termine la trilogia di Dark Resurrection. Aspiravamo a creare un film intero, ma non era possibile con i fondi ricevuti, circa 27.000 euro. Angelo Licata è anche uno scrittore affermato, dopo aver letto il suo romanzo Engel edito da Mondadori nel 2016 gli ho suggerito che quella letteraria poteva essere una strada nobile per raccontare l’ultimo capitolo, forse persino più elevata artisticamente.
Angelo ha scritto il romanzo in circa un anno. Il budget raccolto è stato usato interamente per realizzare un film di 7 minuti (oltre 10 con i titoli di coda), un’opera a metà strada fra il cortometraggio e il trailer, che ha richiesto una mole di lavoro spaventosa per via della quantità e della qualità degli effetti visivi.
Riviera Film, che detiene i diritti del libro, si impegna a mantenere lo spirito no-profit di Dark Resurrection distribuendolo gratuitamente e, laddove non possibile perchè imposto dalle piattaforme, devolvendo tutti gli eventuali ricavi in beneficenza.”
Angelo Licata, creatore di Dark Resurrection: “Con la realizzazione di questo progetto mi sono trovato davanti a una nuova sfida: raccontare il finale della storia che ho iniziato nel 2007 con un linguaggio nuovo che andasse oltre a quello del semplice film. La scrittura è una mia passione da sempre, quindi quando mi hanno suggerito di terminare la storia scrivendo un romanzo mi è sembrata una scelta naturale, ma non mi bastava. Dopotutto, Dark Resurrection nasce come trilogia cinematografica e concludere questa avventura esulando dalla narrazione filmica mi sembrava un tradimento dello spirito originale. Ma forse una cosa poteva non escludere l’altra. Ho pensato all’esperienza del mio precedente libro Engel: quando ho girato il booktrailer è stato come se avessi offerto un assaggio di cosa sarebbe potuta essere quella storia se fosse diventata un film. Per Dark Resurrection ho voluto spingermi oltre, creando qualcosa che non è semplicemente un trailer, ma un vero e proprio supporto visivo al romanzo. Libro e film sono un’unica entità crossmediale, uno sostiene l’altro e viceversa.
Quest’opera ha il compito di presentare il mondo che avevo immaginato, i suoi personaggi, le atmosfere e le emozioni che si respirano nella storia conclusiva. Ho realizzato personalmente tutti gli effetti visivi, e ammetto che è stata davvero dura, ma finalmente, citando l’essere più saggio della galassia, posso dire di aver finito ciò che ho iniziato tanto tempo fa. Mi rimangono un filo di malinconia e un’immensa gratitudine verso tutti coloro che mi hanno sostenuto in questa follia.”

Dark Resurrection Vol.2 – Keepers of the Force
Dark Resurrection, the trilogy directed by Angelo Licata and loosely inspired by Star Wars, comes to its conclusion with Keepers of the Force, a cross-media work consisting of a spectacular short film and a novel, both available for free.
Thanks to the success of Dark Resurrection Volume 0, the 2011 prequel that generated millions of views on Youtube, and thanks to donations made by fans around the world, we were able to create a final chapter that, given its ambitious narrative arc, was continued in an illustrated novel and in a video that is halfway between a short film and a trailer.
Synopsis: Ten years have passed since the Empire’s conquest. The last surviving Guardians of the Force – Zui Mar, Dan Lee, Nemer, and Organa the Seer – are hunted by the imperial army and Sorran’s apprentice, the terrifying Lord Drown.
During a daring escape from the mining planet, where the fugitives took refuge, a powerful echo in the Force brings hope back into their hearts. Perhaps Hope, the only one capable of defeating Sorran and his apprentice, is still alive. Encouraged by this conviction, and accompanied by a new ally, the exiles begin a dangerous journey in search of the girl who holds the destiny of the entire galaxy in her hands.
This short film stems from the desire to complete the Dark Resurrection trilogy. Our goal was to create an entire film, but it was not possible with the 27,000 Euros raised. Angelo Licata is an established writer in Italy. After reading his novel Engel, I suggested that a book could be a noble way to narrate the last chapter and could perhaps even be an artistically higher conclusion. It took about a year to write the book.
The budget raised was entirely used to make a 7-minute film (over 10 minutes with the end credits), a work that is halfway between a short film and a trailer, which required a tremendous amount of dedication because of the quantity and quality of the visual effects.
Riviera Film, the production company which holds the rights to the book, is committed to maintaining the non-profit spirit of Dark Resurrection by distributing it for free. For the platforms where this is not be possible, all revenues will be donated to charity.
Angelo Licata was born in Turin in 1972.
In 2007, he created the independent film, Dark Resurrection, a tribute to Star Wars. It was greatly acclaimed by the media, paving the way towards Angelo’s introduction into the film industry.
He collaborated on several italian films and directed numerous TV commercials.
In 2013, he wrote and directed the short sci-fi film, Closer, which received over 7,000,000 views and currently continues to receive more than 100,000 per month.
In 2015, he wrote and directed, Mala Vita, a RAI television production, with excellent reviews and the winner of various awards including a special mention from the National Syndicate of Italian Film Journalists. In 2016, Mondadori published his first novel, Engel, the War of the Angels.
The book immediately jumped to the top of the charts and received sensational reviews. Currently, an important international production company has acquired the rights to produce a TV series based on the book.
