This year, the Scientific and Engineering Award (Academy Plaque) was recognized at the Sci-Techs a Tissue System of Weta Digital, the physically-based framework on character simulations. Simon Clutterbuck and James Jacobs, who, together with Dr. Richard Dorling, developed the system for building muscle, skin and fat for creatures from films such as Avatar, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Prometheus and the Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
