Nomad Sculpt free desktop beta is now available for Windows and macOS. Nomad Sculpt, one of the most beloved apps for 3D digital sculpting on iPad and Android devices, is finally coming to desktop as well. The new version is now available as a free public beta for Windows and macOS, opening the door to an even wider audience of 3D artists, modelers, and digital creatives.
What is Nomad Sculpt
Nomad Sculpt is a 3D modeling app that combines powerful tools with an intuitive interface. Ideal for creating both organic and hard surface models, it offers a wide range of features for sculpting, painting, and refining 3D meshes.

Main Features of Nomad Sculpt
3D Sculpting Tools
Nomad includes brushes like Clay, Flatten, Smooth, Mask, and many more—suitable for every stage of modeling. You can also use boolean tools for precise cuts with shapes like lasso and rectangle.
Advanced Brush Customization
Each brush can be customized with parameters such as falloff, alphas, tiling, and pen pressure. You can save and load custom presets to optimize your workflow.
Vertex Painting
The vertex painting system allows you to apply color, roughness, and metalness directly onto the mesh, with easy material preset management.
Layer-Based Workflow
Sculpting and painting edits can be stored in separate layers, allowing for a non-destructive creation process and easier revisions.
Multiresolution and Dynamic Topology
You can switch between different mesh resolutions or use dynamic topology to automatically adapt the detail level during sculpting.
Voxel Remeshing and Decimation
Voxel remeshing provides a uniform geometry distribution, ideal for early stages. The decimate tool helps reduce polygons while keeping key details.
Automatic UVs and Baking
Nomad offers an automatic UV unwrap system, which also works with face groups. You can also bake vertex data into textures and vice versa.
Primitives and PBR Rendering
You can start from base shapes like cylinders, torus, and lathe. The built-in PBR renderer offers realistic visualization with lighting, shadows, and post-processing.
Export and Import
Nomad supports various export formats including OBJ, STL, glTF, PLY, making it compatible with professional pipelines and third-party software.
User Interface
Nomad’s interface is simple and designed to work well on touch screens. It is also highly customizable to suit every artist’s needs.

Nomad Sculpt Comes to Desktop: What to Expect
The desktop version of Nomad is still in early development. The current beta includes a limited toolset compared to the mobile version, but the goal is to reach full feature parity.
Currently, the beta only supports basic tools like Clay and Move, and there are some known issues with drawing tablets. However, development is progressing quickly, with frequent updates published by creator Stéphane Ginier.
Quad Remesher and Future Development
The desktop version will also support Quad Remesher, the popular automatic retopology tool developed by Exoside, already available as an in-app purchase on mobile.
